Portfolio: Mystery Pictures

When scientists in the 17th century looked through micrroscopes for the first time, they saw living creatures in a sample of pond water. Metaphysicians in that period formed the view that more powerful microscopes would reveal smaller creatures and even more powerful microscopes would reveal even smaller creatures and so on without end. At the bottom lay mystery.

I suspect few, if any, current scientists would agree with this. They appear to believe that science, armed with the right technology, will provide answers to all questions and, therefore, there is no mystery.

I am with the metaphysicians on this and these pictures reflect that view.
